Care Guide

Looking After Your Pieces

Well-made homeware repays a little care. These are general guidelines; always follow any instructions supplied with your product.

Enamelware

Wash by hand in warm soapy water and dry well. Avoid abrasive pads and metal scourers, which can scratch the finish. Chips in the enamel can expose the metal beneath, so replace chipped items used for food.

Ceramics and Stoneware

Check the maker's guidance on dishwasher and microwave use. Avoid sudden temperature changes, and store with care to prevent chips.

Wool and Knitted Throws

Follow the care label. Wool is often best aired regularly and spot cleaned, with full washes kept to a minimum. Store in a cool, dry place.

Towels and Linens

Wash before first use and avoid fabric softener, which can reduce absorbency. Dry thoroughly before folding away.

Lamps and Lighting

Switch off and unplug before changing a bulb, and use the wattage and bulb type recommended for your lamp. Dust shades gently with a soft brush.

Solid Timber

Keep away from direct heat and strong sunlight. Wipe up spills promptly and treat with a suitable oil or wax from time to time.
