A note on
Wool Throws and Blankets
Wool throws and tartan blankets for the sofa, the end of the bed and the back of the car. Wool traps warmth, breathes and shrugs off dog hair and mud better than most cloth, which is why a good throw ends up being used every evening from October to April.
For softness against bare skin, the Amber British merino wool throw is in terracotta with a cream fringe. For pattern, Ivy's highland tartan plaid throw has a fringed, lived-in look that suits a reading chair. The Thomson Camel and Buchanan Blue tartan blankets are woven from recycled wool: dense, warm and easy to live with, and among the best value in the shop.
Not sure which to choose? Our guide to choosing a wool throw covers size, fibre and weight, and how to wash and care for a wool throw explains how to keep it right for years. For the rest of the room, see By the Fire and our wool rugs.
